The Desire That Was Always There

Some people discover their purpose late in life. For Matthieu, the desire to help others has been there as long as he can remember “sitting in me forever,” as he puts it. He can’t pinpoint the exact moment it began. It was simply always there, waiting for the right path.

After earning a Master’s degree in Information & Communication, Matthieu built a career as a Project and Communication Manager in a French Catholic school. It was rewarding work, but something was missing. The most fulfilling moments weren’t in project plans or strategy meetings, they were in the classrooms, alongside teachers, watching students unlock abilities they never knew they had.

That’s when the realization set in: the communication expertise was valuable, but it was the teaching, the guiding, the helping that truly lit him up.

The Moment Everything Clicked

What confirmed this path wasn’t a single event it was a pattern that kept repeating. Matthieu began to see the direct, tangible impact of his help: students passing their exams, families receiving their PR invitations, communities forming around shared success.

That’s when Learn French In Toronto was born. Not as a generic language school, but as a focused mission: to give immigrants the strategic, exam-specific coaching they need to secure their Canadian future.

Why I Created This Company

I created Learn French In Toronto because I know what it feels like to stand on the other side of this challenge. As an immigrant myself, I’ve lived the uncertainty of building a life in a new country the late-night worries, the paperwork, the constant question of whether you’ll be allowed to stay in the place you’ve started to call home.

But this mission became personal in a way I never expected. I watched friends, talented, hardworking, determined people, struggle with the French language requirement. They had the skills. They had the drive. They had everything Canada was looking for. But one exam stood between them and their permanent residency.

“And then I saw something that broke my heart. Friends who had to leave the country because they were unable to stay. People I cared about, who had built lives here, who had contributed to this community, gone, simply because they didn’t have the right guidance at the right time.”

I couldn’t just watch that happen anymore. I knew I had the skills to help, the native fluency, the communication expertise, the teaching ability. What I didn’t have was a platform to reach the people who needed it most. So I built one.

I created this company for:

Every family sitting at a kitchen table, wondering if they’ll get to stay in Canada.
Every student who’s been told their French “isn’t good enough” when all they needed was the right strategy.

I created this company because I believe that no one should lose their Canadian dream because they didn’t have access to the right help. The TEF and TCF exams are challenging, but they’re not impossible. What makes them feel impossible is trying to face them alone, without strategy, without structure, without someone who’s been through it and knows exactly where the traps are.
